Early years - Foundation Stage.
Children entering Grande Oakbridge in EYFS start Foundation Stage 1 in the September after their third birthday. The Early Years Foundation Stage is a two-year phase. Teaching assistants support the class teachers in the delivery of the curriculum and specialist teachers deliver carousel activities in Art, Music and Computing, as well as an informal approach to Arabic.
Early Years - Phonics Programme.
At Grande Oakbridge we use a structured approach to teaching children how to use phonic sounds in their reading and writing, with the aim that children become fluent readers and accurate spellers. We teach early reading through the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised systematic, synthetic phonics programme.
Primary School Key Stage - 1.
The age range is between 5 – 7 years. At this stage, we expose our children to a more formal approach in the learning process. However, play is part of the teaching experience. Also, we introduce them to the basics of diction. This equips them with the wherewithal to speak fluently and correctly.
Primary School Key Stage - 2.
Our key stage 2 is between 7-11 years old. Here, the pupils are consolidating their literacy skills, practical skills and creative abilities. It is an advanced stage as they are expected to handle more challenging tasks. We engage them extensively whilst they also prepare for different entrance examinations into year 7.
Secondary School Key Stage - 3.
